Roy Campbell - after a lesson with Keely

I am 69 years old and started playing Golf when I moved from London to Whitstable in 2008. I joined the local golf and was given a 28 handicap.

By 2010 my handicap was down to 25 by way of winning a couple of competitions.

My progress began to take a downward turn in 2012 when I has my first hospital admission and operation. Later that that year I then suffered a mild stroke which left me
with a left sided weakness. This was followed in 2013 with several hospital admissions with a foot infection culminating in 2014 with the amputation of my left big toe and
the loss of one and a half stones in weight.

When I eventually returned to golf in the spring of 2015 I found that my timing had gone and I could only hit the ball about 2/3 of my previous distance. A friend suggested
that I go and see Keely at Manston Golf Club. I went to Manston and met Keely, we discussed my problems and she said that she was sure that she could help me but that she
would not try and teach me "How it should be done" but find out how " I could actually do it.

After several lessons and with immense patience and encouragement from this very dedicated young lady I am now striking the ball further and with more consistency than I
have done in the past 4 years.

Thanks to Keely I am now enjoying my golf again.

David Knight - After a lesson with John Brotherton

I am a 17 handicap golfer, having problems with the driver. Nothing really specific but, like many other golfers I watch the different swings of other players and if they are particulary good, think, I'll try that!! In the end your head is a mess. I spoke to John and he said "have a lesson to clear your mind". I thought that's really good advice. Well a miracle accured. In one lesson, he changed my swing plane and I am now getting at least 30yds extra using the driver, about 15yds with the three wood. I drove 95 yds with the pitching wedge (wind behind). I am thrilled to bits.

I decided to take up golf again after a long gap when a friend invited me to play with him. It was only then that I realised that I was not ready to tackle a golf course without having some practice. I went to Manston driving range thinking that I could get back into it after a few sessions hitting the ball... I was wrong, my striking the ball was bad with perhaps one ball in 20 going where I wanted it to go, and getting any loft on the flight of the ball rare. I decided I needed professional help and signed up for 5 lessons with John at Manston. His approach is calm, relaxed, and immediately filled me with confidence.

After my first lesson which focussed on holding the club properly and getting a swing rhythm going, I was able to play a shot that put the ball where I wanted it to go and with loft. In subsequent lessons I have grown more confident and I'm able to become consistent in my stroke rhythm, and hence able to get immense satisfaction from seeing the ball that I just struck soaring into the air and going where I wanted it to go.

Because of Johns professional, caring attitude and the way he has changed my outlook on how I approach the way I strike the ball my golf swing and subsequent golf shot has improved beyond my expectations. I am able to play with confidence and above all else have become more consistent in my golf swing. I would heartily recommend John to you as I know he will help you develop your game just as he has mine.

James Pascall

Hiya John,

I have been playing golf for about 6 years, and over the last 8 to 10 months I have been going through a really bad patch, to the point I almost quit !!. I then found out about "Positive Impact Golf" at Manston and booked my first lesson with John.

I told John about the problems I was experiencing in my game, and that my goals were to become a more confident golfer and enjoy the game again.

John has a positive, relaxed and friendly approach to teaching. After my first lesson, I had gone from a rigid, robotic, uncomfortable swing to a more relaxed casual swing which is a lot more comfortable.
As a result of the 3 lessons I had with John, I am now REALLY enjoying the game again with a new found confidence. My regular golf buddies have noticed a big change in my game. Cheers John.

Regards

James Pascall.

St Lawrences College

As part of our activities programme for pupils at St.Lawrence College, we have been delighted with our return to the Manston Golf Centre. It continues to provide a fantastic venue for our pupils to acquire personal instruction from the professionals who offer excellent tuition in a very caring and friendly manner. The pupils thoroughly enjoy the sessions and are quick to make good progress through the encouragement that is always given. The centre is very welcoming and the extensive facilities enable lessons to take place whatever the weather. On behalf of our pupils, I would like to thank the Manston Golf Centre for providing us with such an excellent service.

Mick - Laleham Gap School

Dear David,

Some years ago I undertook a PGA recognised qualification in teaching and introducing the basics of golf to young students. I thoroughly enjoyed the course at Addington Golf Club and was keen to put my new qualification to good use. Not long after qualifying, the Manston Golf Centre was opened and my school became one of the first in the area to use the brand new driving range facilities, and more importantly perhaps, the great professional tuition that was available to us as a special school through the Golf Foundation.

Our students were also involved in helping to clear the golf course of a vast number of flint stones in the earliest days of the new 9 hole golf course being opened. We were all more than happy to help out!! Since then we have used the facilities for both school curriculum time, and for tuition sessions in the evening. Our students feature on the Autistic Spectrum and are often more suited to activities like golf that are more individual in nature. As a result Manston Golf Centre has proved to be an absolutely invaluable indoor/outdoor facility in our local area, and we have all benefitted from both the great tuition offered, and the school visits to recent British Open Championships through the Golf Foundation but organised by the good folks at Manston!.

The Centre continues to engage our young students with their flexible, good-humoured and highly professional approach to tuition, for which we are all extremely grateful. To everyone at Manston Golf Centre, thank you very much!

Kind regards,

Mick (Senior Teacher i/c Physical Education at Laleham Gap School)

Donald Campbell:

I had a session with Aaron in the fitting bay and had the opportunity to use the Flight Scope. I wanted to pass on my thanks to him for a very useful session. I have changed back to my 560MCs at his suggestion and put on a stiffer driver shaft. I played in a medal on Saturday and shot an 81 (off 9) par 71. That's the 1st time I've hit the buffer since May. Thanks again and I shall come to see you when I'm back down in Ramsgade.

John Jordan:

Dear Michael

I must congratulate you and your staff on the excellent night we had at the Manston Golf Centre yesterday 18th August. We have received phone calls and e-mails from clients who really enjoyed the evening. The organisation and hospitality shown to us was tremendous. Thanks also to David Vernon for the tuition he gave people new to the game.

Once again many thanks.

Steve B - 42 years old - no official handicap:

Until meeting Brian and experiencing his Positive Impact Golf coaching, my game was stuck in a rut of over analysis and frustration. Brian's approach is a breath of fresh air, based on understanding your game and encouraging you to understand what makes a good golf shot rather than prescribing how to achieve one. With his help, I have discovered the golfer within that was buried under years of 'advice' and the 'rules' of how we should all swing a golf club. I feel like my swing has been liberated, and my golf is much more relaxed, with many more sweetly struck shots and much more enjoyment on the golf course.

Tony P - 72 years old - 26 handicap:

I am still dancing and hitting the ball well. I am enjoying my golf because I am playing better, handicap has been cut and I won div.two last week. This is all down to Positive Impact Golf and you of course, Brian !!! The three days I spent in Kent has had a terrific effect on myself and the golf.

Keep me in mind for a future course or training.

Sean O'Sullivan - After a lesson with John Brotherton

John ,

Just a quick note of thanks and appreciation for your time and patience over the last few years.
I remember clearly the first day I turned up at Manston with one simple goal and that was not to continue to finish last in my annual pilgrimage to Portugal with the 'Boys' golf outing.
Being a relatively latecomer to golf I had not held out much hope and also I realise that turning up for a lesson the week before I was due to fly out was not ideal preparation, but any level of improvement would be more than welcome.

Well this year, your mantras on relaxed smooth stroke, balanced take away and full follow through, rhythmical swing etc. have finally managed to infiltrate my psyche and things have changed! I won the overall competition for the week, first as well in the pairs and also won the afternoon's 'eclectic'. Previously I have managed to put the odd good round together, but this was eight8 (5 - 18, 3 - 9) rounds of golf over the week which counted and to say I was surprised would be an under statement.

Once again many thanks and I will be down to see you again in the not too distant future to continue with the good work.

Regards,

Sean
