So, Jason Day continued his blistering run of form with victory at The Barclays on Sunday. It was the Australian's third win in his last four starts and moved him in to first place in the lucrative FedEx Cup standings.
Although Day's most notable skill is his length and accuracy off the tee, it was his outstanding performance on the greens that really got our attention this week; he gained more strokes putting than any other player in the field; draining them from everywhere. One highlight came on the 15th, a putt of well over 30 feet that swung from left to right downhill and dropped in the bottom of the cup. It was a real beauty, one we'd all be telling our friends about in the clubhouse afterwards.
There's no better feeling for any golfer than making a putt you would happily have made in two. We all want to reward our solid approach play by making more than we miss, so try and take some inspiration from Day's performance this weekend next time you're standing over a tough one. If you'd like us to take a look at your putting stroke, get in touch here.
Over the past few weeks, or PGA Professionals have been busy fitting our golfers into the brand new i series and GMax irons from PING. They have been hugely popular as they are helping all types of golfers gain distance over their previous irons!
i irons
Coming in to replace the popular i25 model, PING’s new i irons are a step-up. They’ve been designed to be slightly more workable than their predecessor, but with comparable levels of forgiveness.
Better players will love the performance of the new i iron. The carefully engineered geometry of the head and hosel allows for greater workability and trajectory control. But PING hasn't made sacrifices on forgiveness to achieve the aim of playability. This is largely thanks to the progressive weighting through the set.

GMax irons
These irons produce up to 3mph more ball speed than previous PING models and that means they offer significant extra distance for most players. These clubs are definitely worth trying.
PING has pushed the boat out in terms of the technologies featured in its new GMax irons. They're longer, more forgiving and they offer greater control than any clubs PING has previously produced. They also look great and sit beautifully behind the ball. That's quite a package.
