Welcome to another one of our weekly newsletters! Included in the newsletter this week is an exciting addition to the range, another update on our Adventure Golf, a huge success for Tony and some news regarding John's Game Improvement Champion. Enjoy the read.
New Range Balls
Early this week we received an exciting delivery! Srixon delivered 20,000 brand new range balls! This is one of Srixon's premium golf balls and one of the best on the current range ball market. What this means is that these golf balls will give you as the customer the best possible feel when you're practicing. If you haven't already, come down and try the latest addition to MGC and see the difference yourself. We welcome your feedback and opinions. Enjoy your practice.
Shortgame Area
Since the building commenced on the Adventure Golf, our shortgame area has been moved and reshaped. The shortgame green is really coming along and is starting to look really good! If you've been down there recently you will have noticed the new 'Pot Bunker', and the reason we've created this is to make your bunker practice a lot more realistic with some of the bunkers you find on most courses these days.
We are also having the 'Pot Bunker challenge' at the moment and this is where you see how close to the front lip you can go and still get the ball out. Head over to our Facebook page and see how the staff managed and even upload a video of yourself trying it. See if you can 'Beat the Pros'
Tony has 36points!
Tony, a member of Chestfield GC was custom fitted here at Manston for a brand new set of irons last week and had one lesson with John to help him get used to them; after the Custom Fit session and lesson, he then played in his friendly swindle with approximately 20members.
Tony managed to return with a stableford score of 36 points and just lost out on first on countback! The positive to take though was that this was the first time Tony had managed to get 36points on a golf course for 6months.
A fantastic achievement, keep up the good work!
Johns Game Improvement Champion
Scott Brown arrived early to practice, which really impressed John, before he and John headed out onto the golf course for what was to be the start of the 8week coaching programme. Scott is a 28 handicap golfer with the usual problems that can occur with this level of golfer.
On the course John wanted to look at his whole game to see where he was going to focus his efforts on in the following 6 sessions on the range, but obviously John didn't change anything on the course as that is the wrong place to make changes. However he did change club selections on various holes and where to aim. By doing these two things, Scott was able to hit more good shots and in more favourable positions than usual, therefore creating more enjoyment.
So for John that was job done for the day, Scott enjoyed his game more and John saw what route to take in upcoming lessons. He booked in his lesson for today where they will be moving forward on his understanding of his own swing and discussing any problems he would like to cure. Scott mentioned at the end of the session "I really enjoyed my time on the course and now realise how easy it is to hit good shots"
Watch this space to see the improvements Scott can make over the 8 week period.
