Welcome to this week's newsletter from Manston Golf Centre, we hope you're well. 

We start this week’s newsletter with a massive thank you to everybody who has been visiting the golf centre since we re-opened and have been following the regulations we’ve put in place to keep everybody safe. Our one-way system remains in place along with the restriction of 1 golfer per range bay (unless accompanying a junior), please remember somebody from your group must sign in at reception on every visit to comply with our obligations to the trace and trace scheme. If you have the NHS app, we have QR codes which you can scan at reception, ball machine, rascal bay and tenth café. Once again, our thanks for your cooperation.

Course update

Despite seeing over four inches of rainfall in the first 12 days of October (the average for October is 1 inch), we are delighted with the condition of the Greensole Course. 

Good progress is being made on the 1st and 3rd tee projects and the view across the course from the tee is stunning.

Course Update

As we mentioned in last week’s newsletter, we have invested in a Disc Drill Seeder to enable us to repair worn areas of the golf course quickly, efficiently and with minimum disruption. This has been taking place this week…in between showers.

Prior to the seeding all of the greens were verti-drained, this allows the bad air and gasses to escape the green and new fresh and good air to enter the green. It also relieves compaction on the green which helps with drainage. Following this the greens have been deep scarified, the benefits of this is to remove the thatch from the greens and help make new roots grow.

Hatton's happy homecoming

Tyrrell Hatton sealed a fantastic victory at Wentworth in the BMW PGA Championship over the weekend.

The Englishman played some outstanding golf from tee-to-green, setting up birdie chances aplenty thanks to a near-perfect ball-striking display. Finding the right part of the green was key to Hatton's success over the weekend, which saw him enter the World's Top 10 for the very first time.

One of the slightly more unusual talking points from the weekend was Hatton's clothing; more specifically his hoodies. It seems to have people split and, whilst it won't be to everyone's taste, we'd love to hear your thoughts - send us a message below.
