Course works This year has seen the Greensole Course experience almost unprecedented conditions. Firstly, of course, we had two months of lockdown where the course was being maintained by a skeleton staff; this was quickly followed by the return of golf and high levels of usage. The combination of this and the very wet Summer has put pressure on some areas of the course so with this in mind we have commenced our Autumn works early to achieve the best results. You may have already seen significant works commencing on the 1st and 3rd tees. Both tees are being significantly rebuilt – the 1st will be a three tier tee with each section providing different challenges, the back tee being reserved for competition play and special events. As well as offering a new perspective on the hole and additional length, the additional teeing area will also mean we can spread the wear more evenly. |

We have temporarily removed the memorial plaques that were on the 1st tee to keep them safe whilst works are carried out – these will of course be reinstated as soon as possible. We would anticipate both tees being back in play within around 8 weeks, although of course this is weather dependant. In the meantime forward tees have been prepped and put into play while the main tees are out of play – we appreciate your patience while works are taking place.
From early October (when there is more chance of rain), we will be carrying out a comprehensive programme of drill seeding to repair and thicken grass density throughout the course. The drill seed we will be using buries the seed in a hole which then seals itself so any disruption will be minimal.

Player news Keely was in action this week in the WPGA championships. As a former winner, we were following her process closely and she didn’t disappoint, ultimately finishing second to another former winner Heather MacRae who birdied the last to pip Keely by one shot. |
