New technology arrives

Its been an exciting few weeks in the golf world with the release of several new irons. TaylorMade have launched their much anticipated new P Series line of irons. The new line inlcudes three new irons P770, P7MC and their new blade P7MB (the one we wish we could all hit).

Many Tour players already have these in the bag including Rory Mcilroy and Charley Hull so they are no odubt going to be a big success for them.

Mizuno have also launched their brand new JPX 921 line following on from the hugely popular 919 line. These are no doubt going to look and feel as good as anything on the market so I’m very excited to get my hands on them to try. As soon as we have them we’ll let you know so you can form a socially distanced que to try.

We also will be stocking another brand which we havent done for the past few years. They are also launching a brand new line from September which is sure to compete with the very best that any company has to offer. Their forged irons are as good as it gets. Any guesses? Stay tuned to find out who it is.

Cobra Fitting Day

Following on from the massively popular Cobra Fitting Day we held in July, we are excited to be welcoming Cobra back down for another fitting day on Wednesday, 9 September. This event will run between 2:00pm – 7:00pm and again be bookings only.

Not only that, we will also be running the same promotion as last time which was:

- £100 voucher for any set of irons bought on the day

- £50 voucher for any driver bought on the day

- £25 voucher for any fairway bought on the day

All of these vouchers can be used on the day to be put towards other items so if your looking at buying a few bits now is the time.

Staff success

Sales assistant Harvey Cooper has rediscovered his love for the game in the past month or so and his hard work practising has started to pay off in a big way. He won the first boarded competition he played in up North Foreland, followed up by two 2nd place finishes in Monthly medals and then to top it off he was part of the winning team in the much converted Diana Fishwick team competition. He is possibly the most in form player in the club or his handicap needs looking at. Maybe it is both.

Keely’s handicap is not in question luckily and she had a great round last week at a WPGA event finishing 2nd at Salisbury and South Wiltshire.

Target your weaknesses

Golf has taken off in the past few months since lockdown with lots of new people taking up the game which has been fantastic to see. Before you get too far down the line, it is always worth having at least a couple lessons to help put you on the right path with your game before bad habits get to ingrained.

We are incredibly lucky to have five PGA coaches here and all do a first lesson for £19.99. If you want to book up a lesson either speak to one of them instore or you can book online below.

Joseph (pictured below) started having lessons with Gavin after only hitting a few balls on the range before. Since then he has improved no end as he was able to be put on the correct path straight away without having any bad habits to try and change.

Golf is hard enough when you are just starting so don’t make it harder by trying to work it out by yourself.

Popov and DJ in leagues of their own

There are sporting shocks, and then there’s the World No. 304 winning a Major! Germany’s Sophia Popov finished on -7 at Royal Troon to claim victory at the AIG Women’s Open. Despite having never won on the LPGA or Ladies European Tour before, the 27-year-old fought off challenges from stars like World No. 8 Minjee Lee and seven-time Major Champion Inbee Park.

Meanwhile, on the PGA Tour, Dustin Johnson won The Northern Trust, the first FedEx Cup playoff event, by shooting a staggering -30. That ended up being an 11-stroke victory, which raises the age-old question of what’s more entertaining:
