Coaching news

Lesson success

Our coaches have enjoyed another busy week of lessons with lots of progress made by all of their clients. As well as one to one lessons, PGA Professional John Brotherton also hosts two very popular “Roll-Up” classes each week.

- Wednesdays - 10:00am - 11:00am
- Saturdays - 9:00am - 10:00am

There’s no need to book, be a member or any restrictions whatsoever. Just come along to either (or both) sessions. It’s just £10 a session and equipment can be provided if necessary.

This Wednesday’s group was a particular success as everything came together for all of the participants, who all left smiling and looking forward to their next game.

As well as traditional one to one lessons and packages Jude also offers his clients access to his limited pathway programme.

This is a great way to set and achieve goals for your golf game, and it works. See what his clients have been saying about it this week.

First of all, Billy - Billy has been on the Pathway Program and has already achieved his goals of:

- Hitting the ball further
- Hitting a draw instead of a weak cut
- Playing to handicap more

Last week he scored 42 points around Westgate with a gross 64 shooting lower than his age.

Next up Adam – Adam is one of the hardest workers on his game and has been working on a stronger more penetrating ball flight recently and last week played 18 holes at Birchwood Park and scored 43 points a gross 72 (+1) playing under pressure on a course he doesn't play much with people he didn't know.

Finally, Sue - Sue is now on the Graduate Program after completing the Pathway Program and has been scoring great. Sue scored a nett 64 at St.Augustines this month to win the Ladies Medal and got cut to 19.6, one of her goals was to make a 20 handicap. We quickly set a new goal last week of playing to 18 handicap. We worked last week on her chipping and this week she shot 17 over par.

Exciting news

We have a NEW Toptracer ‘Nearest the Pin’ feature hole starting on Tuesday, 1 October…The iconic and very tricky 7th at Pebble Beach… it really doesn’t get any better

It’s only 110 yards, so how hard can it be?

We are also pleased to announce we will be running a very special ‘Nearest the Pin’ competition throughout October with an amazing prize. Full details are being finalised now and we announce it over the next 24 hours.

They've done it again

Without further ado, let us introduce TaylorMade’s scintillating Milled Grind 2 wedge and look at why it's such a good option to be putting in the scoring part of your bag.

Now this wedge is quite unique. It's all to do with Raw Face Technology, which increases spin and feel compared with the original Milled Grind.

Winter is coming

Have you ever noticed how much harder you need to hit your putts in the winter compared to summer? As surfaces begin to slow due to longer grass and wetter greens, the need for a little extra effort on your putting stroke becomes clear.

Should you change your putter?

As putts need to be hit harder to get the ball going the same distance as they do in the summer months, using a heavier putter certainly won’t do you any harm.

The thought here is that a heavier putter will do more of the work for you, allowing for a smooth and more controlled putting stroke.

Whilst still being relatively lightweight compared to some putters, Scotty Cameron's Phantom X 12 putter is certainly an option we'd recommend you trying thanks to its optimised weight distribution.
