2014 Owner-Pro Challenge
Over the past month or so, many of you have tried taking on Max and Michael in a bid to overcome the deadly duo! But currently we have only one pair that has managed this mammoth task. The pair consisting of Cliff Campbell and Christie Dean managed to beat them 2&1, and to this day are the only pair to walk away victorious. We've had many good golfers take on the pair all of which have struggled to deal with Max's chip in's and Michael's monster 3 woods! People have also challenged them to a rematch at a later date in the hope that they'll emmerge victorious the second time round.

The £10 entry rolls over each time a pair fails to beat Max and Michael. After all matches have been played the winnings will be split between the pairs that succeed in beating them in the form of shop vouchers. There is still plenty of time to play the pair and see if you can immerge victorious! Good Luck!
A Quick Note on Michael and Max's Latest Match
On the first hole Max's putting went AWOL as he missed from 4 feet, which meant Rick rolled a nice 10ft putt in to halve the first hole. The second didn't see much improvement from Max's putting as he missed from 6ft and Rick made a good 5 nett 4 to halve the hole again! The 3rd hole was won by Rick and Beryl as Rick made a great 3 nett 2 to let Max and Michael experience what being 1 down felt like.
Now onto the 4th hole… Max and Michael both drove the green and Rick hit his approach to 35ft and holed it for a great 3, and yet another half as Max managed to 2 putt from 30ft. Beryl took over on the 5th hitting a great shot into 20 feet and left Max and Michael scraping a half.
The 6th hole was playing longer than usual as it was into wind. Rick hit two great shots into 15ft. Max was working his Bubba Watson like shape, curving it from left to right in the air landed just left of the green but could only manage yet another half. Max and Michael won the 7th hole with a 4 making the match square.
On the 8th hole, Max then hit his tee shot to about 7ft, Rick then hit it left of the green. Meaning the pressure was on Beryl she delivered hitting a nice high iron shot to about 20ft. She rolled the putt up for a 3 nett 2 putting the pressure on Max to hole his birdie putt to ensure the match stayed all square and he did, meaning the match would go down the last.
The last was halved in 4's with Beryl again taking over from Rick to give a fair result of a half. Michael must've been thinking of his holiday as he took a back seat in this match and left the work to Max, but still a deserved half on both parts. Congratulations to Rick and Beryl.

Senior and Ladies Roll Up Sessions on a Monday
Are you over 50 and are keen to improve your golf?
If so David Vernon does a mixed senior class on Mondays from 9:30. This is a great way to learn in a fun and relaxed environment whilst receiving PGA tuition from one of our Senior Coaches. There is no need to book, purely just turn up on a Monday and ready for golf!
Also on a Monday Keely Chiericato holds a LADIES ONLY roll up session from 11am-12pm at a cost of just £10 per person, it's a great way to meet new people and receive professional tuition, what better way to learn? We do recommend phoning ahead to check that the session is on as due to playing commitments Keely may be away some Monday's.
Putting Clinic with PGA Professional John Brotherton
On Saturday, 25 October our PGA Professional John Brotherton will be holding yet another one of his incredible putting clinics. At just £20 it's great value too. Beginners Club
As I hope many of you are aware, our PGA Assistant Professional started the Beginners Club 2014 in October and it proved to be a great success, with people really happy with the value for money and the relaxed environment in which it's run, and good news it's back for November.
The 4 week course will start with a FREE session on Tuesday, 11 November 18:30-19:30 and then run from there. At just £49.99 per person you'll receive a PGA Collection 7 iron plus vouchers for the shop as well as your 4x1 Hr group sessions! What's going on our course?
Throughout the year our greenkeeper's work extremely hard at maintaining the standard of our public 9 hole course, you'll often see them out there whatever the weather. At this present time they are deep scarifying or aerating the greens.
Green scarifying or dethatching; as it is also known is the process of removing moss from the green to encourage a healthy green. This essential green care task is carried out using either a purpose built powered machine or a hand implement such as a spring tine rake. This insures our greens are kept to the best possible standard for our members and of course the general public.
Junior Golf Offers
Junior golf is very important to us here at Manston Golf Centre so this is why we have so many different offers to encourage junior golf. We currently have an introductory offer for our junior academy membership, usually it costs £89 per quarter, but we're doing it at just £44.50 so be sure to take up this fantastic offer before it's too late.
Another offer we are currently running is all day junior practice for just £10, this fee includes UNLIMITED range balls and club hire all day! Surely that's an offer not to be missed! We hope to see you soon!
Junior Coaching
Our junior coaching continues to go from strength to strength - if you're on the driving range on a Saturday or Sunday morning you can see some fantastic swings from children as young as 4! What's more they're all having a great time.
Our junior sessions are open to all children aged 4 years and over - no need to book just come along and get involved.
