Coaching news

John Brotherton Clinics

John Brotherton started his popular clinics last Saturday with one on the short game, encompassing
pitching, chipping and bunker play. Everyone enjoyed the morning and took away some great ideas for improving their shots around the green.

On Saturday 4th May, John will be doing a Putting Clinic. He will be suggesting pre game routines and drills and looking at each person individually to help improve their particular action. He will give a better understanding to each person on how they can score lower and enjoy their game more.

John will be demonstrating and talking for part of the time so he does not want anyone to worry about being bent over a ball for too long as he is always very aware that those with bad backs will find that difficult for such a long time.

The clinic is for 2 hours from 10.30am to 12.30pm and is ONLY £20 so either phone or text John on 07930715487 or email on john@manstongolf.co.uk or pop into the shop and book at the counter to avoid disappointment.

Beginners Club

We still have a couple of spaces left for our beginners club group session which starts on Thursday 2nd May.

It’s a great way to learn, meet new golfers and get a FREE Lynx 7 iron as well!

Range news

Toptracer Driving Range

Our latest addition of Toptracer to the driving range is proving incredibly popular with regular and new customers alike. We’re delighted with it too! The only problem we have is when asked how it actually works! Although we did enquire, the technicalities of tracking up to 20 balls simultaneously, translating that data back to images and having it on the bay screen was a bit much for us! But trust us it works, if it’s good enough for Sky Golf and The Open it’s good enough for us!

With 6 great options of play and practice there truly is something for everybody, please ask one of the Manston team for assistance in getting started if you need pointing in the right direction.

Knowledge is power

It's one of the most glorious times of the year to be playing golf and no doubt you have noticed that more and more players are taking to the course. So, what better time than now for a quick brush up of your knowledge to make sure you don't fall foul of the updated Rules of Golf?

Here are some of the key rules that were updated for 2019:

Drop the ball from knee height NOT shoulder height
If you accidently move your ball while searching for it you can replace it with no penalty
In bunkers, you can now move loose impediments
Shoe damage on the greens can now be repaired
Search time reduced from five minutes to three
You can now putt with the flag in without penalty

Another way to gain distance

On the face of it, the mechanics of golf are really quite simple: the further you hit the ball, the easier it will be to get the white thing into the hole in the fewest shots.
