2014 Ryder Cup

By the time you read this newsletter, the playing of the 2014 Ryder Cup from Scotland will be well under way! Will Europe manage to retain the trophy of which they won two years ago in the 'Miracle in Medinah'? Or will the USA manage to win it back? Either way I'm sure you'll agree with me that it's going to be a great few days of golf! Go team Europe! Good luck to you all!

Senior and Ladies Roll Up Sessions on a Monday

Are you over 50 and keen to improve your golf?

If so, David Vernon does a mixed senior class on Mondays from 9:30. This is a great way to learn in a fun and relaxed environment whilst receiving PGA tuition from one of our Senior Coaches. There is no need to book, purely just turn up on a Monday and ready for golf!

Also on a Monday, Keely Chiericato holds a LADIES ONLY roll up session from 11am-12pm at a cost of just £10 per person, it's a great way to meet new people and receive professional tuition, what better way to learn? We do recommend phoning ahead to check that the session is on as due to playing commitments, Keely may be away some Mondays.

Putting Clinic with PGA Professional John Brotherton

On Saturday, 27 September between 12-1pm John Brotherton will again be holding another clinic, but this month he'll be focussing on putting. So if you're struggling with your putting and confidence with your putter, then this is the clinic for you.

For just £20 you'll receive professional tuition from John as well as some handy tips that will help improve your putting and confidence, thus getting more enjoyment form the game.

The clinic is limited to ONLY 5 people, so we recommend reserving your spot as soon as possible as spaces are filling up quickly.

Junior Golf Offers

Junior golf is very important to us here at Manston Golf Centre so this is why we have so many different offers to encourage junior golf.

We currently have an introductory offer for our junior academy membership, usually it costs £89 per quarter but we're doing it at just £44.50 so be sure to take up this fantastic offer before it's too late. Another offer we are currently running is all day junior practice for just £10, this fee includes UNLIMITED range balls and club hire all day! Surely that's an offer not to be missed! Junior Coaching

Our junior coaching continues to go from strength to strength - if you're on the driving range on a Saturday or Sunday morning you can see some fantastic swings from children as young as 4! What's more they're all having a great time.

Our junior sessions are open to all children aged 4 years and over - no need to book just come along and get involved.

2014 Owner-Pro Challenge

Throughout the next few months our PGA Assistant Professional Max Brackley is teaming up with the owner Michael Humphries to take on members over 9 holes on our golf course. After last weeks' strong performance against Alan and Len. The deadly due of Max and Michael dispatched Alan Taylor and Bill Aylward this week with a result of 2&1.

They continued where they left off last week by making birdies at one and two, then following that with a par at 3, before getting back on the birdie train on hole 4. The pair seemed to be cruising after max chipped in for a birdie on 6; good job really as Bill Aylward rolled in a birdie putt to bring the game back to them being 1down.

The odd moment of the round came when Michael had a 6ft putt for a 3 nett 2 but decided to pick the ball up instead of holing out and winning the hole, so I guess we'll just put that down to a senior moment! Then on the 7th hole Max was being typical Max by hitting a monstrous drive which lead to him making an easy 4 to put the game back to 2up with 2 to play, and followed that with a par 3 down 8 after Alan badly tried to hole a 10ft putt to keep the game going and ended up being a 2&1 victory for Max and Michael.

The £10 entry rolls over each time a pair fails to beat Max and Michael. After all matches have been played the winnings will be split between the pairs that succeed in beating them in form of shop vouchers. There is still plenty of time to play the pair and see if you can immerge victorious! Good Luck!
